The festival consists of 3 tournaments - Invitational Pairs tournament (IMP), Teams tournament and Open Pairs tournament (MP).
The Invitational tournament is played by 24-28 pairs. All pairs are invited by the organizers. The Invitational tournament will be broadcasted on BBO and local TV and live streamed on the internet!
In the Invitational tournament 7 Swiss rounds of 4 boards (Danish in the last round) are played. The result is scored by IMPs according to the average of the field. ~25% scores from the top and ~25% from the bottom do not count when counting average. If two pairs have equal number of IMPs, then in the higher ranking is the pair who:
1. has won the round which was played against the other pair;
2. has more IMPs against the top 5 pairs.
The Teams tournament is played in 3 stages: first stage - 9 rounds by Swiss system. After 9 rounds the top 8 teams move on to second stage - 3 more rounds by Swiss system (opponents in Round 1-9 are different, but the opponents in round 10-12 can be from the first stage also). After the Round 12, 4 top teams go to the semi-final (1st team picks the opponent for the semi-final from the 3rd of 4th place) and the winners play finals. All rounds are played 8 boards by round, semi-finals and finals are played 16 boards by round, the scoring is by IMPs and IMPs are converted in Victory points. In the semi-final and the final 1,1 IMP carry-over for the team who finished higher. The teams in Round Robin take place according to the VPs. If two or more teams have equal VP, the team which better matches the criteria takes the higher place:
1. their match by IMPs;
2. total IMPs (+/-);
3. if 1. and 2. are the same, then the teams play 4 boards, and winning with 1 IMP is enough.
The Pairs tournament is played in 2 stages: Qualification stage and Final stage. Qualification stage consists of 2 sessions, 26 boards each. After 2 sessions the best 18 pairs play Final A, the rest of the field plays Final B.
Final A is played as a full round robin, total 34 boards. Final B is played as a Mitchel, 26 boards. Scoring by match points.
Drop-ins. Pairs formed by players from top 4 teams still playing in the Teams tournament final may enter the Open Pairs for the second Qualification session. However, players may form a pair with a player who did not participate in the same, or any team in the Open Team competition. A team with four players may contribute a maximum of two, and a team with five/six players a maximum of three drop-in pairs. These pairs will be awarded a carry-over - the same amount of % as the 10th place in the first qualification session.
Carry-over in Final A. There will be carry-over in Final A according to the results from the Qualifying sessions. There is no Carry-over in Final B. Players who wish to participate only in Final B (not playing Qualification) may join for the discounted entry fee.
